The Columbus County Sudan Mini Choppers were chartered in 2004. It started with the idea of one person, Noble Steve Dorsett. Steve was working at Oak Island when he happened to notice a mini chopper parked at a house. Since the Columbus County Shriners were looking for a new unit, the lights and bells started going off in Steve's head. That's it, so he quickly returned home and contacted fellow Nobles Tony Edwards and Randy Williamson. For the next few weeks they spent bunches of time and travel looking for these little motorcycles. The Mini Choppers came to life with Tony Edwards as Captain, Steve Dorsett as Lt. and Randy Williamson as Secretary and Treasurer, the little choppers began to grow, and today we boast close to forty members, thanks to a few, many now enjoy the little motorcycles in parades across NC and SC. As with any parade that has Shriner units in them, peoples’ faces really light up when The Columbus County Sudan Mini Choppers go by. |
