This page is an outlet for Shriners Hospitals for Children patients and their families to share their personal experiences with the hospital staff and Sudan Shriners that they interact with.  As Nobles, we recognize that what we do is not for our own personal glory or esteem, but for the enhancement of each child's life and to relieve the family from financial burden.  This is an opportunity for those family members who wish to share their story to tell it.  Patient or family names will be printed only at their request and with their consent.

Thank you all so much for helping with the expenses for this trip.  Riley had a great appointment and will go back for another visit in 2 years.  The staff, along with you all have been overwhelmingly nice.  The world needs more places like the Shriners!

Sincerely, Michael & Brooke Sloop

We would like to say thank you for everything you all do for the children at Shriners Hospital.  Hailey had an appt on Monday and both children have an appt in January.  Thank you again.  Tamara

We want to thank you and everyone at Shriners to know our family is so very grateful for everything that has been done for our family and especially Astrid.  We know what an amazing difference that these treatments are making in her life.  We also wanted to say thank you for inviting us to the Shriner's Christmas party in Jacksonville this year, it was wonderful!

Sincerely, the Edens Family

Excerpt from thank you letter:

We wanted to thank the wonderful Shriners again for assisting us with our motel room when Marissa went for her appointment last month.

Marissa's appointment went well overall but she is going to have a little surgery next month.  We are looking forward to the fish fry that is going on here tomorrow and I have asked all of my coworkers and friends in the area to please go and have lunch or dinner there.

Please pass along our appreciation to everyone.  You are definitely a blessing to our family.

Thank you, Cathi

Excerpt from thank you letter:

Thank you so much for all your assistance and for arranging for their overnight stay at the Days Inn for her appointment.  Words cannot express our gratitude to the Shriners for helping Allie to receive a prosthetic leg.  Without the help of the Shriners, it would have been very difficult, if not impossible for her to have the surgery and receive the prosthetic due to lack of funds.  We are forever grateful and will share with others the good work of the Shriners.

Maddie made this sign to hold up for the Shriners at the parade in Bath. There weren't any units in that parade so I told her that I'd show it here instead.

Update:  May 29, 2013

We have picked up Matthew's new leg braces and he is excited to have them.  We were supposed to pick them up back in March, but had to put that trip off because Matthew had an accident at school and broke his hip.  He had surgery and is finished with his physical therapy.  He is doing well but actually misses school and his friends.  He has had to finish his school year at home because of the accident.  Thank you all so much for your help.  We thank God for th eShriners and all of the help that you have provided for our family over the years.

Here are the gas receipts from Matthew's last trip for his six month checkup.  He had a good visit and the doctors suggested that we try a new therapy for him.  We also had his braces redone.  Thank you so much for your help.  We thank God for the shriners and the help that they have provided for us over the years.

Ashley is 9 years old and in 3rd grade at Vanceboro Farm Life.   She has been diagnosed with SPASTIC DIPLEGIC CEREBRAL PALSY.

A friend of her mother recommended that she try to get an appointment at the Shriners Hospitals for Children in Greenville, SC.  That is where she was diagnosed.  Her doctor in New Bern, who is an orthopedic doctor told us he would never have found it.  We have made 8 trips to the hospital with her, with four of these with the Road Runners.  They are a great group of men and women, taking their time to drive the vans to take us there and back. They are very courteous and helpful.  I can't thank them enough for what they have done.  The doctors and staff at the hospital are very wonderful and caring people.  They have my heartfelt gratitude and thanks.  I tell everybody how nice everyone involved has been and I recommend that if they know a child who needs help, to get in contact with the Shriners to get their child the help they need.  I will do my best to help support the Shriners in any way I can thru donations, annual fish frys, or in any way.  My many thanks to ALL of the Shriners and Road Runners, I have had the pleasure to come in contact with.  Keep up the good work.

Thank you very much,

Annie Baker, grandmother of Ashley

We've just returned from another "wonderful" visit at Shriner's Children's Hospital in Greenville.  Her appointment was on Monday, October 24, 2011 at 9:30 am.  She will not have to go back for another year.  Isn't that wonderful?!?!  We can't say enough about the entire staff at Greenville.  Thanks also to you for making Allison's life whole!  She's all smiles today on her 16th birthday.  Allison sold tickets and served plates at our local Shriner's fish fry on Friday, October 21, 2011.  We enjoyed it.  We love you Shriners!!!  Sincerely  Allison & Betty

Shriners is wonderful.  We realize how fortunate that we are that Shriners are involved in Luke's life!  They fixed his club feet as a baby and they continue to work on his delicate spine.  Hugs, Karen
