James “Delvin” Herring
Noble James “Delvin” Herring was born August 25, 1962 in Lumberton, NC to JD and Peggy Herring. Delvin spent most of his younger years in St. Pauls, NC. At the age of 16, his family moved to Wilmington, NC, where he graduated from Laney High School. His father was a truck driver and he decided to follow in his footsteps. In 1984, he and his dad began their own trucking company, Herring Transportation. In 1994, they grew and began Triple D Express, Inc, which now transports freight to 48 states. His family also has a catering business, catering fundraisers and special events.
Delvin married Connie Carroll Herring of Lumberton, NC in 2007. Together they have 5 children. Connie is a member of St. Pauls Chapter # 70 Order of the Eastern Star.
Delvin was raised as a Master Mason June 22, 1991 at St. Pauls Lodge #474, after only a month of being initiated into to the Lodge. In March, 1993, he joined Scottish Rite in Wilmington and crossed the hot sands of Sudan Shriners in May 1993, in Fayetteville, NC and shortly after joined St. Pauls Shrine Club, where he has held numerous positions and was voted Shriner of the Year in 2003. Delvin became a member of York Rite in October 2003, in Fayetteville, NC. He also assisted in the Charter of St. Pauls Chapter #70 Order of the Eastern Star in 2003 when it was reformed. He is a charter member of Sudan Playboys, which began in 2006, serving as Director for three years. He served as Master of St. Pauls Lodge #474 in 2002, 2003 and 2007. He served as District Deputy Grand Master of the 18th Masonic District from 2005-2007. He was elected to the Royal Order of Jesters, New Bern Court No. 145 in October 2006. Delvin also served as Masonic Relations Chairman from 2006-2009, at which time he visited over 150 Blue Lodges and over 40 Shrine Clubs, including Amran and Oasis Shriners. Delvin holds Masonry and Shrinedom very near to his heart. He has worked very hard to bring Unity between the Masonic Lodges and Shrine Clubs.
